A Magic Story, 2021.

In response to the recent AAPI hate crime, I made this video called "magic story." This video is inspired by William Kentridge, Candice Breitz, and Richard Mosse. The narrative format is learned from Candice Breitz's work "Love Story." But I used google translate to include voices from many languages in the background and hope this would create an inclusive feeling sense hate crime might be against anyone. I used drawing to tell this story and this is learned from William Kentridge's work. I also try to mimic Richard Mosse's style of using news and journalism-like footages to create scenes. I hope this video tells its audience something about hate and love.
