Looking.Down@Looking.Up, 2020.
A counter-perspective to the untitled masthead which adorns the 'Made at Berkeley' exhibit (and the atrium of Soda Hall before it), the photo depicts a first-person view of what many of us passed and never noticed: the hidden-in-plain-sight aesthetics of the (now redeveloped) entrance to Downtown Berkeley BART. The photograph attempts to capture what we would see when striking the same pose as that in the masthead, i.e. looking up - while highlighting a familiar theme for our community, i.e. impermanence which is altogether too tangible - and, at the same time, a subtle beauty which is at once both undeniable & eternal.
