2015, Digital Media (Photography and Computer Graphics), 8.5 x 11 inches.

In Fall 2015, I took History of Art 62 “Introduction to Italian Renaissance Art” with Professor Henrike Lange and created this piece as part of my final assignment. This work is my attempt to respond to Canto I and Canto V of Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy. As the title suggests, this is a depiction of Dante starting his journey into Hell. In addition to the text, reputable artistic renderings of Botticelli and Dorè inspires my interpretation and are reminders of how Dante’s words have influenced and transcended a medium of literature to endure in visual mediums.

Undeclared | UC Berkeley Literature Visual Arts |
I am a second year undeclared undergraduate student. Currently, I am hoping to pursue a major in Cognitive Science and a possible minor in History of Art. I am interested in interdisciplinary education that conveys interconnections of arts and the arts relationship with other fields. I do believe that imagination is still valued and is how abstract thought can be transformed into something that is more tangible, and hopefully I can have a future where I can foster that understanding.
