Loteria 2020, 2021.

This artwork is a 2020-21 Loteria (lottery) card. This is basically meant to show how 2020 felt like a gamble to me. The year overall had terrible events going on from a pandemic to wildfires to unemployment. It felt as if everyday the average working class person would gamble their lives with a major catastrophe. During this time social media was only reporting how many people had caught Covid or lost their jobs. When I made a list of the images I wanted on my 2020 Loteria I realized that it was a somewhat depressing, so I added in personal goals that I achieved in 2020 or my favorite objects which made last year more bearable. Like adding my cat and dog, the sun, cactus, graduation, and more. I also decided to add in the unicorn in the lottery because my cat and dog seem a little lonely as the only animals on the card.
